The symptoms stayed the same and the P244c came back. I did the following: 1. ordered a new vapouriser off of ebay, I paid about £180 for it. 2. took the DPF off (had to use the gas welding torch to heat the 3 of the nuts before they would move and had to cut the last one off). Then sent the DPF away for cleaning. I'm a bit surprised that this problem came this early, but it appears that the people at Ford is taking this seriously. Having been through Mondeo Mk.1 1.8I - Mk.2 2.0i - Mk3 2.0i - Mk.4 2.0i - Mk.4.5 2.0 Ecoboost PWS - Mk4.5 2.0TDCi PWS and now the Mk5 TDCI PWS, this is my first serious problem, so I will just wait for Ford to sort things out.

If no coolant is returning then that's your issue. 2. The temperature blend door motor is faulty and not adjusting the hot/cold air mix coming out of the vents meaning you're only getting cold. Bit harder to check this and may require some trim removal to view the motors. Quote.

So far, I've only had one problem; and it's plagued the vehicle right from the outset. Other than this, it's a great vehicle to drive. In cold weather, the car is a bad starter, the problem - I noticed as soon as the weather got sub 5 degrees. If your battery is draining while driving, it is almost without exception the Mondeo’s alternator that is causing the problem. If it is you should see the battery or alternator light on, it indicates that the alternator is not creating the necessary voltage to charge the battery. It could be a bad battery, or more likely a bad battery cable too.
My reliable 2004 Mondeo Estate Auto gearbox has done 190,000 miles and never had an oil change or problems and I tow a 1.5 ton boat. This type of gearbox has a fluid coupling ( torque converter) which is a genuine auto with no clutch to wear out.
Bought a new (to me) focus last month and I love it. It’s a mk3.5 TDCi 2.0 140 with powershift. Compared to my old mk3 manual, this seems to fly! I believe this car has the wet clutch system. However I have bought a mondeo 2.0 TDCI 08 plate earlier this year and noticed intermittent whining noises within a few weeks. This was reported to the dealership via telephone before the end of the warranty and we took the vehicle in 7 days after the warranty expired. We have since discovered a problem with the power steering.
