Honest opinion - I am not certain you could have John on the run for two more full movies. But an interview late 2022, Chad mentioned Lionsgate has asked about ch 5. So maybe its 4+ years away and they closed some storylines with ch 4. They have Ballerina and the Continental. And Chad has Highlander and a couple other projects on his plate.
John had only one choice, and that was to ride out the hit, or die trying. A horrible life to lead, and what led him to killing Antonio in the end. Poor choice of locations, but I feel he was making a point to all of those who thought it might be a good idea to try him in the future.
